St. Patrick’s Cathedral

Directly across from Rockefeller Center at 50th Street and Fifth Avenue, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, designed by James Renwick Jr., is the largest Gothic Catholic cathedral in the United States.It is the seat of the Archbishop of New York as well as a parish church. The cathedral occupies a full city block, extending to Madison Avenue and 51st Street and includes the Archbishop's house and rectory. 

Completed in 1879, it features soaring 330-foot spires, stained-glass windows, ornate altars, and a majestic pipe organ with 7,855 pipes. With seating for 2,400, this church welcomes millions of visitors each year for both services and sightseeing. St Patrick's Cathedral is clad in marble and adorned with beautiful stained glass windows. It is a New York City designated landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
